Internal administration - replacing red tape with computer technology
Our highly qualified, eficcient administration has to become leaner.
Faced with a tight budget, the State has to concentrate on its key functions. At the same time, our goal is not only to carry out our administrative duties, but also to constantly improve the efficiency of our department. We have long since cut the red tape and replaced it with modern computer equipment. We want to ensure our
organization
is
lean
yet efficient. This means we have to complete our tasks using fewer but highly qualified employees. The central divisions of the administration are preparing improvement measures to this effect. By the way, many suggestions for improvement come from the bureaus themselves.
Taxpayers can rest assured that the Ministry of the Interior manages its
budgetary resources
carefully, economically and frugally. In 2004, the State Parliament allotted close on EUR 2.9 billion to this fund. Since the beginning of 1998, our department has been testing a new budgeting method in various bureaus. In delegating responsibility for budgetary funds the aim is to make our administration more efficient, shift accountability downward and further motivate our staff.
The
government authorities network
that has meanwhile been developed is giving a new meaning to communication: data highways provide the networking for governmental and municipal administration. 1270 governmental offices and more than 900 municipal authorities are already connected. Administrative procedures are thus accelerated by means of electronic mail and the access to central databases such as, for example, the new database "Bayern Recht".
